Project Registration Information
You must submit a Registration Questionnaire for approval during our project registration period if you would like to:

  • Reserve a Placement location at Black Rock City
  • Receive permission to bring a Mutant Vehicle into Black Rock City for inspection
  • Pre-register to bring a Disabled Vehicle to Black Rock City
  • Register for Art placement on the open playa
  • Pre-register as professional Media

Registration Period: Questionnaires open the 3rd Wednesday of February each year. Please return at that time to fill out a questionnaire and find out the closing date for each questionnaire (close dates often change from year to year).

Important information for most Placement requests, Art and Mutant Vehicles: The following items are required to complete your questionnaire (items to be uploaded directly into the questionnaire). Please have these items prepared prior to starting. DO NOT use a “placeholder” file.

  • Placement: Final camp layout plan (single page PDF or JPG – 1 MB or less)
  • Art: Diagram or drawing of your project (up to 3 files: JPG, PNG or GIF – 1 MB or less per file)
  • Mutant Vehicle: Photo or sketch of vehicle (up to 10 files: JPG, PNG or GIF – 1 MB or less per file (a day and a night picture of already constructed vehicles is recommended))

2012 Registration Questionnaires

  • Placement (Theme Camp or Department) Questionnaire: February 15 – last Thursday in April (April 26, 2012) at 12:00 noon Pacific Time
  • Mutant Vehicle Application: February 15 – May 15, 2012 at 12:00 noon Pacific Time
  • Disabled Persons Vehicle Application: February 15 – July 31, 2012 at 12:00 noon Pacific Time
  • Art Installation Questionnaire: February 15 – June 20, 2012 at 12:00 noon Pacific Time
  • Media Registration Form: Open on February 15, 2012. Deadline for video/film is July 18, 2012 at 12:00 noon Pacific Time. All other press open until Aug 1, 2012, at 12:00 noon Pacific Time

  • Please do not use a mobile device  (smartphone, ipad or tablet) to fill out your form. Data may not be properly submitted, which will have a negative impact upon your application.
  • We recommend using Firefox, Safari or Chrome or IE 7-9 to fill out your questionnaire.
  • Questionnaires no longer use account names and passwords. You will be asked to submit contact information for each questionnaire.
